“You’re not going to die!”

Being shot, I mean, it was scary, but I can get back to normal. But dealing with COVID, there’s gonna be some long-term effects, you know.

“At that point, I'd already had it for six weeks and lost 50 pounds. I can't eat, really. I'm really weak. I can’t really walk. If I walk 10 feet, my heart rate jumps to 150-160.”

She counted down 5,4,3,2,1 then she doesn't remember anything until she woke up 35 days later.

Why me? Why did I survive?

“I surrender to it and say, “OK, if it's my time, it's cool.” And I was just fine with it. I just made peace with the fact that if I'm going to die, I'm going to die. I've had a life well-lived.”

I decided to get up off the floor and fight.

I find it amazing that the medical community has not taken Covid long haulers seriously. for god’s sake, believe us!

I was twenty-nine and turning 30, and I remember thinking I wouldn't see my 30th birthday.

I texted my wife, “I’m scared.”

Nobody believed me, but I really did have Covid.

Covid is not a joke. Wear your mask to protect yourself and others.

It was hard to take. I’d cared for Covid patients an entire year without getting infected.

Waiting to get better and not knowing when this would happen was the hardest part.

I felt like I wasn’t being heard.

For some reason, I was spared.

Faith over fear, I can do this!

Be kind to everyone

Although I was at the top of the list to get a Covid vaccine, I was hesitant. I did not trust that a vaccine developed so quickly will be completely safe and, I was skeptical of medical research that has historically mistreated Black Americans. . I waited for some time to see if negative side effects occur. Then I took the Moderna Vaccine offered by my employer in February.
